Wrought Iron Fence Cost Per Foot in Houston (2026)

Around Houston, a welded ornamental steel fence costs roughly $25 to $55 per linear foot installed, depending on height, style and who is building it. Our standard residential fence starts at the low end of that. Here is what moves you up the range.

Height

• 4 foot: the base price, common for front yards and pools
• 5 foot: about 10 to 15 percent more
• 6 foot: about 25 to 35 percent more, and posts get heavier

Style

• Flat-top with straight pickets: base
• Spear or finial tops: small add
• Double top rail, puppy pickets, rings or scrolls: adds cutting and welding time

Posts and ground

Posts set in concrete are included in our number. Rocky ground, roots, sloped lines that need stepped panels, and removing an old fence all add labor.

Gates

Welded vs. bolted kits

The panels at the big box store bolt together with brackets. They are cheaper and they are exactly what they look like: brackets loosen, panels rattle, and the powder coat chips at every bolt. Our panels are welded in the shop, then welded or through-bolted to the posts. Ask any fence quote which one you are getting.

A worked example

150 feet of 5 foot flat-top steel fence with one walk gate, on flat ground, no old fence to remove: roughly $4,300 to $5,200 installed with us. The same job from a large fence company with subcontracted labor often comes in 20 to 40 percent higher.
