A steel entry gate or security door does two jobs: it keeps the front of the house secure, and it is the first thing every guest sees. Around Houston we build them in two families, and both start around $1,000 installed.
Classic wrought iron
Scrollwork, arched tops, twisted pickets. The style you see on brick homes in Spring Branch, Memorial and the older parts of Katy. Built as a courtyard gate in front of the door or as a full security screen door over the entry. Typical range: $1,000 to $2,500 depending on size and detail.
Modern slat
Horizontal flat bars with tight gaps, often on a stucco or stone entry. Clean, private, and the look in every new build in Cypress and The Woodlands. Typical range: $1,200 to $3,000. Solid panel sections for full privacy cost a bit more.
What is included

- Primed and painted, or a raw-steel clear coat on modern designs
- Installation into masonry, wood or steel jambs
Locks and keypads
A standard deadbolt lock box is included. Keypad locks, smart locks and gate-mounted intercoms are add-ons, usually $200 to $600 with installation. We wire keypads to a gate opener too if the courtyard gate is automated.
Side-yard gates
The wood gate to the backyard is the one that always sags. A steel-framed side gate with cedar or pickets, in the existing opening, runs about $400 to $1,000 and never drags again.
Timeline
About one to two weeks of shop time after measure, then a half-day install.
